One of the striking things about all these really good 85 mm lenses when you look at both their mtf and their variation is that *there is as Much variation between copies of the lenses as there is between the averages of eac lens*
So peeking at one copy of each of a pair of high quality lenses might not tell you much that isn\'t specific ho this copies, even though variation is low.
