Last fall while in the Maasai Mara, Kenya, I bumped into a cheetah family on my way to camp. Suffice it to say that we didn\'t make it to camp until after dark. And that chance sighting turned into an amazing four days shadowing them.
This was actually in one of the conservancy areas, and so over the four days we were mostly alone with them. It was an amazing opportunity to observe them interact, hunt, relax, huddle from the cold and rain, play together, chase off annoying jackals, and get chased by lions and baboons. We lost them several times for several hours and each time thought our encounter was over, but my guide always managed to pick them up again. It finally ended with a successful hunt and kill on the fourth day. Utterly amazing and absolutely beautiful!
All shot with a Canon 7D and 300 f/2.8 L IS mk1 and 70-200 f/4 L IS.
