Hey All,
So I recently went to Kauai, Hawaii to spend some time with my wife (she took me there for my birthday), and take some shots around the island. It was my first trip to this particular island so I had no idea what to expect. I did see it of course in movies like Indiana Jones, King Kong, or Jurassic Park, but trying to find some of these places isn\'t as easy as it seems. But, I run into some pro photographers there (from New York and locals) and we chat about the best locations. I knew about the Ke\'s beach and Na Pali coast, where most of the images here are from.
So, without further ado I\'d like to show you 4 of my shot from the place.
1. This shot I took at some place (I don\'t know if it has a name or not) to which I was lead by my friend Matt. He runs workshop there and showed me this place. It\'s a quite secret and really hard to find. One has to cross some water/river/beach and certainly get wet just to get to this location.
2. I took this shot while flying the doorless helicopter around the Kauai island. Most of the coast is only accessible via helicopter or boat so taking the flight was really the only way to see it. The mountains are very jagged and created by winds and waves millions of years ago, back when the island was pushed up by the heat/volcano. For this image I decided to zoom in and capture the wall structure only. I\'m not sure this image justifies the place, but can give you at least some idea what the Na Pali coast looks like (it\'s almost all toothy like this).
To give you some sense on how big they are, the small green plants at the button of the image are actually trees, not moss although the walls are all covered in moss. This place is reported to be the wettest place on Earth....
3. This is what I was after while in Hawaii. The \"fan\" constructed by waves crashing into each other. At the sunset time the outer part of the wave gets highlighted by the sunsetting sun. I took about 1000 shots to get this one. The effect is mesmerizing!
4. This one comes from Ke\'e beach and shows the beginning of the Na Pali coast at the sunset time.
