On one of our early morning drives we came upon six Rhinos peacefully grazing close to our car for twenty minutes. In a few years, a sight like this may be history as poachers kill something like 500 rhinos a year out of the total rhino population of maybe 3500 animals in the Kruger National Park.
The rhino´s horn is illegally traded and sold mainly to Vietnamese with a persisting belief that the rhino horn can cure cancer.
The last picture shows vultures and a hyena fighting over the remnants of a rhino killed by poachers the same morning.
