Habitat loss and lack of genetic diversity are the prime reasons for the decline in the cheetah population. Once prominent throughout Africa and into Asia and the Arabian Peninsula there are now fewer than 15,000 in Africa with the largest population in Namibia. There is still a very small number of Asiatic cheetahs in Iran...less than 50 it is believed.
Support wildlife initiatives, do what you can to oppose loss of habitat....if we hadn\'t been proactive getting DDT out of the system the number of eagle photos on this site would be almost none!
So, for International Cheetah Day here is my tribute.
