The ZA 85/1.4 is really nice, but IMO still lacking at f/1.4. At f/1.8 to 2.5 the lens is superb.
With the recent FW upgrade to vs.44 with the Metabones IV adapter, one of my favourite lenses the 85L II works amazingly well with the A7rII. In fact I find the AF is more accurate that when I had the 5DII.
I was fortunate to pick this afternoon a really good deal on a almost brand new 85L II with the Metabones IV. I quickly updated the Metabones IV and the 85L II works brilliantly.

ZA lacking at 1.4 in what sense? On a 24 mp ff sensor it\'s quite good WO, but not so much on 42 maybe?
It is a great lens, but having the glow at f/1.2/1.4 for portraits is what I mean. With the ZA 85/1.4 at f/1.4 there is not quite the same rendering wide open. In truth it is a personal choice
I will keep both lenses for now, as I suspect the ZA 85/1.4 is better stopped down for landscape work.
The Batis 85 is expected now in November!
I see. In my experience the ZA is technically better, but yes, I don\'t think the rendering is as becoming as the 85L often at times. I have the Contax N 85 now, and it\'s a pinch softer WO but with very good contest and color and a smoother feel. It\'s like a za but better, more becoming, more personality. I owned the ZA and FD 85 L and I found the ZA better for landscapes both technically and in rendering, specially with highlights. Life is good that we have to make such \"tough\" choices
