I\'m not sure you can decide the going rate based on one bid at eBay. I bought once a Nikon 300 2.8 AF-SII for $1700, doesn\'t make it the going rate for that lens... Anyway, good luck finding one, it\'s worth it
$1179 is what Nikon sells them for refurbished after the 15% discount, plus from Nikon you don\'t have gift payment nonsense and you get a warranty. I\'ll likely just buy one from Nikon.

Non refurbished with retail box(better for resale). No gift payment nonsense. The seller has to pay 13% in fees.
So the going rate is in the $1000-$1100 range or refurbished from Nikon with warranty for $1179. I\'ll find one. Thanks for the suggestions. By the way did you guys know that it\'s considered a lowball to offer someone the going rate for a product. I was notified of this by a seller on the buy and sell after they contacted me. Comical.
