Taffy Twist

The twisted gnarly rolls of sandstone bathed in indirect reflected light displaying one of the countless wonders of the sublime Colorado Plateau.

My approach here was to let my LCD lead me to the composition. I am a huge advocate of (and teach to my workshop clients) taking the tripod OFF the camera and exploring the nearly infinite possibilities of a scene at hand using your LCD as your eyes. Here, experimenting with the Canon 14mmL2, as soon as I saw this composition I knew I liked it. Then the real trick (difficulty) was to get the tripod to match the precise position. The funny thing you will not notice here is that my client is in the middle ground around the left sandstone wall, getting his shot the opposite direction. I actually found this shot as I was getting out of his way!

This is a 16 shot focus/depth of field stack at f/5.6 for enhanced detail from front to back.

Feel free to follow me on FACEBOOK if you so choose. I have a lot of exciting things going on there, they wont let me tell you about here.

Thank you for looking and as always GREAT Light to you!
