To show my focus issues:
The heron demonstrates what would happen most of the time (when it would act up)... You can see the heron is out of focus and the background is in focus. Probably about 3/4 of my pictures had this issue that day. The eagle was taken the same day, same lens (70-300), same conditions (hand held, view finder). The third photo was taken immediately after sensor cleaning. You can see his face is in soft focus, yet his sweater is in sharp focus... so it was kind of down focusing then.
