Got me. I assumed it is the diameter of the objective---I just used the filter size for the lens.

Yes, I know that \"Clear Aperture\" of a photo lens means somthing slightly different (and is more complicated to calculate) than that of a Telescope Objective. However, I would presume that the angular resolving power still is somewhat dependent on the diameter of the front lens elements.

In any case, the main point is that photographiaclly, it looks like the 100-400 II is very similar ot my Televue 76 - a very highly regarded (small) astro telescope.
