Its not crutch. DR is important in almost any landscape shot and many others. More you have, better it is. Yes, people often use it as help and fix exposure in post, but thats kinda suprisingly not main point. Wedding photographers (some) didnt like Fuji S-system cause it enabled them to forget to expose right, but cause they could have details on white dress as much as on black one on same photo. (similar reason to like almost any Sony camera since Sony A900).
Otherwise Canon will continue to pull it \"marketing way\", but eventually they will either show, or die slowly. Or start buying Sony sensors like all others.
