A Touch of Fall..... Ricketts Glen State Park

Last Friday, Oct 02, I had the opportunity to visit Ricketts Glen State Park in Pennsylvania. This is a superior destination for autumn waterfall photography and I would highly suggest visiting the park if you ever get the chance. Falls Trail in Ricketts Glen can be a steep hike, but if you are doing photography, I don\'t think you will mind the elevation changes.

Ricketts Glen is a natural treasure at any time of the year but autumn has a way of accentuating the park\'s natural beauty to new levels. Photographic opportunities abound almost everywhere. I would suggest that you allow yourself at least six hours to complete the hike while doing photography. As far as equipment, I would suggest to keep it simple; bring a light but stable tripod, a wide angle zoom lens with a polarizing filter for photographing the waterfalls (a 16-35mm is perfect), a macro lens for some close up shots, and a short telephoto lens. That equipment should be able to handle any photographic opportunities found on the trail. Be sure to bring a good pair of hiking boots and use caution - the rocks can be very slippery!!!

If you get the opportunity to photograph Ricketts Glen, I am sure you will have a fantastic time and return with wonderful photographs! ;]

Last week the fall color was basically just starting on the trail, I wouuld think that this week should offfer some of the season\'s best color.
