This is 2nd time I was put on stage about color choice I made. I am into photography 6 years ago missed most glory time of filmage . But love to see what each film can bring. Is it the idea having all kinds of film available at the time to choose from based on personal preference or scenery requirement.
I enjoy Classical music the most, but that doesn’t means I can’t/don’t appreciate Taylor Swift.
The color choice made many time is an impulse choice, and like any images I posted here, there could be a very different way to represent them. For the ones either I struggle or really loved image, I have two or three version with totally different look, WB, color, contrast all get my likes but only choose one to show in the end.
In term of reality of color and look, I have expressed my opinion about that, it is BS. There is no real and I don’t care if it is real. If priority of your image is look real, think twice about why you take photo. What is beautiful skin tone? It is not for real but manipulated forever to please your eyes. In this case, I may not please your eyes but certainly make some impact on you
I might have tendency to explore the color and many times, make it dramatic for my choice. But ultimately I feel it is still for myself and I don’t realize can hurt someone’s brain or eyes. Color to me is another element under photographer’s control just like aperture, exposure, composition etc… My choice may be poor to you but still that is my choice. Pleasing you is not my priority.
Please don’t take that I can’t accept criticism, I am very open to accept any suggestion on my image. I appreciate your straight forward criticism and hope you can also accept my straight forward response if I do not agree with you.
Here are two different version of above images from my computer with slightly less punch. We always face choice in life, the decision could be any, but good thing is it is not wrong or right and it is not end of world even if I made it wrong. I guess I would prefer the punch ones for prints but below for screen.
