Re: Tamrons Response To AI Servo Issue.

^^^^I don\'t think Tamron pays Canon for their software,^^^^ if that were the case the lens would likely work. Unfortunately Tamron designs a \'work-around\' to get their lens to communicate with Canon software, that is how it was told to me from a contact at Tamron.
It does not benefit Canon to share their technology with Tamron and that is understood. This may be a good reason for the lack of long primes or many long zooms from companies like Tamron, Sigma, Tokina. Shorter lenses are much more forgiving and usually a much greater f/stop for gathering light for a better change for sharper more consistent focus.
There are plenty of articles on plenty of third party lenses for focus issues of types, Sigma had been plagued with it too.

I have already returned my Tamron 150-600 as of two weeks ago. A couple of outings with the 1DMKIII on easy to follow focus subjects quickly confirmed there were AI Servo focus issues. I have owned a lot of Tamron glass in the past, it doesn\'t make me happy to hear of the stance Tamron is taking on these issues. I still think a lot of people will benefit from this lens at this price, it does perform much much better in good light and struggles in overcast low light for sure.

If Tamron develops a \'body compatibility\' chart that would be redeeming of them, to state a \'no issue\' response to known issues is totally unacceptable and shameful in my opinion and will leave a sour taste to many of us who gave the lens a try or are still trying to sort it out completely. I now realize just how intricate the communication between body and lens for AI Servo is, I really didn\'t fully realize the shortcomings a third party vendor has by not having direct access to these communication paths and now have placed more value on the Canon lens to body harmony. I don\'t want to doubt my equipment, I want all blame to fall on my shoulders for my botched shots, that way I just have one area to improve

Good luck and good hopes of pleasing results to those that stick with the Tamron 150-600, they will have to redeem themselves in this case for me to consider them again on new long lenses. I am a fan of their 90 and 180 macro and own a 19-35 zoom and as many of you may have seen a lot of my floral shots were taken with a very cheap ($140) 70-300 that has a 1:2 macro range with amazing results! Maybe older is better

Come on Tamron, help out your loyal customers, they are the ones that promote or fail your company!
