Re: A7/A7r - performance with WA RF lenses

I canceled my order for the A7r and went with the A7 because it has less color shift and less vignetting and it\'s not evident from samples that corner smearing is any worse.

I\'ve been shooting Zeiss ZM35/2 and am happy with the results. It\'s slightly soft in the extreme corners at f8, however it\'s really only the last fraction of the corner which could be attributable to the lens rather than the sensor cover stack. When opened up and shooting subjects whatever smearing that\'s going on around the edges of the frame gets lost in the OOF areas so it\'s not too onerous. The lenses character is completely changed on fullframe versus shooting on NEX which I like very much.

ZM50/2 is pretty good WO as well as stopped down. The ZM25/2.8 I haven\'t tried yet, but looked decent for landscapes at f8 from the examples I\'ve seen. Better than the Voigtlander or Leica offerings at around that focal length.

My ZM50/1.5c is good for subjects and the larger pixel size of the A7 compared with the 5n give the illusion that the centers have more sharpness. I was never very happy with the 50 C Sonar on the 5n for this reason. It obviously doesn\'t carry sharpness out to the corners as Ron\'s tests showed, but it\'s fine for subjects rather than scenes when the background is OOF.

I feel more content shooting these lenses on the A7 compared with the NEX 5n or my Leica M4P.
