Maybe Sony is anticipating that many will be using our lenses from other systems in the WA and UWA lenses both as SLR and RF lenses as well as the MF Zeiss lenses that are to be released in 2014 at least to start.

+1

I suspect that the issues with WA/UWA on digital are sufficiently well served with existing SLR glass in the Zeiss arsenal (same 24x26) and the additional (if much at all) gains to be realized with a redesign for mirrorless will be nominal for the amount of $$$$ to do so ... at least for now.

I think the telling tale will be how much the rangefinder group loves/hates the results they get with their glass on FF mirrorless as to whether or not they make a move for some killer prime UWA. I think it\'ll come ... just not quickly.

Given the popularity of the 17-40L/4 ... I think the 16-35/4 is a good move (even though I\'d prefer a killer prime).
