Ha! Good point. We haven\'t really talked about how good the A7R will likely be as a B&W camera with these M lenses, if there isn\'t a smearing issue.

Well, if the mono of my SLR/C (ancient I know) is any indication of mono without an AA filter (truly absent like MF, not unfiltered like D800E) ... I\'d say \"Suh-Weeet\".

The offset sensor can only help improve the amount of energy transmitted to the sensor as a byproduct of less refraction and better wavelength alignment ... even if insufficient to fully offset UWA rangefinder glass steep angles (as I believe) to fully prevent color shifting. I can\'t think of any reason why it wouldn\'t improve B&W (too steep/smearing @ UWA notwithstanding). While the color shifts have been opposing hues, the tonal values of them (in my experience on FF) have been equitable.

In that regard, I\'d say that the rangefinder glass with its closer proximity to the sensor will be a significant increase in contrast (at least centrally) ... just like with film. My only thing @ rangefinder glass is going to be the UWA side of things with those steep angles that are too much for the microlens to properly refract and retain wavelength alignment.
