Wow ! Alan thanks for the detailed infos. It\'s pretty much what i had in mind. If i were to start AP it would indeed be for the 1st category you mentioned: Widefield/milky way. So no need for a telescope to get started. Would seriously need to upgrade my tripod and get a much sturdier ball head for sure. I\'d really like to rent our the astrotrac to see if i would like it enough to get one. But so far i didn\'t find a photo store that rents that sort of equipment. But i\'m not giving up just yet, i\'ll bet ya i can borrow stuff if i join an astronomy club around here.
In conclusion it is no more expensive than let\'s say my sport shooting rig or any sort of pro studio equipment, but one can not do everything. We\'ll at least i can\'t :-(
