Buying (or not) 200-400L

Welcome to my wait. I was taking a picture of a grizzly with my 600 this last weekend and he kept coming too close. And then I had to move away from my car or move the car. Its clear that the zoom with f4 will be a big asset. I just hope the iq is worth the money. Good choice.

After only waiting a couple of hours from announcement to call the store, I am \"within 20\" on my camera store list. I am pessimistic that I will get one of the first.Hopefully the first 17 back out and there is 3.

Scott, the real scenario you have described points in the direction of possibly the only 200-400 salient feature, compared to other long lenses, where a technical justification becomes feasible in my books: it\'s a zoom, and a moderately fast one at that.

When it comes to IQ thru the range of 200mm to 560mm, from wide open onwards, I expect it to be very good. As far as AF responsiveness goes, that remains to be seen. At least in theory, it is possible that they might have done a bang on job there, with more emphasis of response stability, and less lurching. Now, that would be nice.
