It is certainly a great toll to no longer be able to do what you love, either due to financial or health reasons. The feeling I get when I see people selling all their gear because of eyesight loss or medical bills, it feels like it must be like selling a part of your soul. No one knows how they will react when they reach that transition in life.
Suicide is truly sad because you know that a good person was in what they saw as a hopeless state. We all wish we could have helped.
