Yeah breitling, because it is so unreasonable that a brand new lens that is brand new in design and development is a better built or better performer than the canon offering...
35L is quiet old lens, when Canon will offer new model - we will compare. Not fair at this point.
(not sure why my first post was deleted).
It doesn\'t matter if the Canon lens is 100 years old at this point.
Right now you get a Canon 35L or a Sigma 35. The Sigma is cheaper new than the Canon is used. The Sigma rivals the Canon...for less. These are facts. It doesn\'t make the Canon perform any worse, it just has something possibly better than it out.
When Canon offers a new 35L, we can rest assured that we can compare them then. Then it will be a discussion of \"is the Canon 35L worth 4X what the sigma is?\"
Sorry, but the agument that it \"isn\'t far\" at this point is weak, at best.
I own 3 copies of 35L and I know all weak points of this lens, but I prefer to stay with it until we will test 35LII and see possible differences. I am not sure why I would jump on such old lens with critics now. It is as it is and millions of sharp and great shots made with it by many people. This Sigma lens cost about same as I paid for my first 35L 7 years ago, so?
Canon is not reading these threads and will release new one as soon as they will think it is good for them, not because of some Sigma lens or that you like it so much. Any new lenses Canon releasing is way better than old, just wait or shot with new but squeaking Sigma.
