Mark, thanks for the excellent and detailed write-up for your beautiful image, as always... Though I\'ve been living and working in California for the past decade or so, I was born and raised in Portland and am very familiar with all the Gorge creeks and waterfalls. It is great to see your renderings of those locations.
I have a question about your approach to focus stacking... I\'ve started using this technique a bit but am unclear on one technical aspect. In changing focus points from minimum distance to infinity (through a group of images I plan to stack later), the image content changes (i.e. \"zooms\") slightly. Do you account for this in Photoshop with Auto-Align followed by blending of stacked layers? I\'m curious how much is automated in the process of focus stacking. Thanks!
P.S. Your recent Painted Hills image was quite stunning as well. I just got out there for the first time last year and loved the beautiful compositions available there.

In changing focus from minimum distance to infinity (through a group of images I plan to stack later), the image content seems to change (i.e. \"zoom\") slightly, at least with lenses I\'ve used that aren\'t internal focus and are fixed focal length. How do you account for this in camera and in the field? If a brief explanation is beyond the scope of this thread, I\'d be happy for any links as well. Thanks!
