Whom can you trust with an objective and knowledgeable lens evaluation ? The problem with 800VR will be even more severe than with 200-400L.
Some people who publish those Nikon lens reviews seem to benefit from blowing Nikon\'s horn. Alternatively, even if they might be free of such conflicts of interest, they are often more focused on showing off their own photography talent, than in assessing the lens critically. They would typically shoot thousands of point blank shots of baited or captive raptors until they get a dozen real nice ones, and then they post a glowing lens report supported by those dozen images. Then people react with admiring \"Ooohh...ahhh..\", which really accomplishes the reviewers goal, but that does little for anyone\'s understanding of the lens true performance.
