I do not use the \"hide\" button much, however, the other day while I was trying to \"hide\" Dan Mitchell, Roger Cicala, Alundeb and the Photon guy, I hid myself inadvertently, so I thought at first that Fred had banned me from FM, which in itself wouldn\'t be a big loss to me, or to the forum for that matter.
I\'d reply but I haven\'t seen any of your posts. ;-)

I see your post, so no. But just to avoid getting to far into that line of questioning... I won\'t reply here to any additional questions about who might or might not be hidden from me. Danger lies that way... ;-)

I like this idea, in all sorts of ways. There is some potential for misuse of it, but overall the result would likely be helpful.
Stronger moderation is another possibility. But my experience is this creates it\'s own disturbance...
I can tell you from personal experience moderating online communities for nearly two decades that this is a very difficult balancing act. Some moderation is, of course, necessary, but it must be applied with a sense of balance and context. Frankly, I think that the FM moderators do a fine job in this regard, and they have my respect and thanks for the work they do.
I have a recent story regarding very negative effects of heavy-handed moderation at the DP forum that I could share, butI wont beyond saying that I was suddenly and surprisingly banned from DPR for a perceived \"offense\" that wouldn\'t even raise an eyebrow here, even after contributing to that forum for years in a manner that most regard as helpful and useful. That experience convinced me that I will never go back there - even once my 99 day ban (!) ends. It is not a community that I want to be part of.
Let\'s start with less venom and snarkiness, and let\'s have more of EOSfun

I have a recent story regarding the very negative effects of heavy-handed moderation at the DP forum that I could share. All I\'ll say is that I was banned from DPR for a perceived offense that wouldn\'t even raise an eyebrow here. I won\'t bore you with the details, but the experience convinced me that I won\'t go back there.
