Erik, I just got mine last night and as promised, here are my findings:
Mine does not require AF Fine tuning, it was perfect out of the box. What\'s amazing is that it\'s already super sharp wide open, and does not improve much after stopping down (only the DOF does). My copy seems to be very sharp, crisp, and accurate at all distances, using all focus points on my D600.
using the Leftmost focus point (focus on \"The\")
using the Rightmost focus point
And here is a scene outside the house where I test new lenses. Most lenses that I\'ve tried had trouble rendering this scene due to low light and varying degrees of shadow and highlight areas. The 24 1.4G in particular had issues focusing on this scene. Older lenses like my 85 1.4D shows high degree of CA around the light areas. The Sigma 35 had no problems rendering it... with ASTOUNDING detail and sharpness! (focused on the green bush)
Hope that helped. I wish I had a D800 to try.. so sorry I can\'t help you there. On my D600, this lens is AMAZING!
