Re: Diado Moriyama shooting jpg with a P&S | |
Look, Exdsc, whatever your name is, I don\'t really care what you or anyone else thinks about my work. I know that some of it is original, and most of it isn\'t, but I know what I enjoy shooting, and I know that I enjoy learning more. I know which artists I like and which I don\'t, and I don\'t care what other people think of this, it is my opinion for me.
I don\'t understand why you care what people think. When you have a link to work you enjoy, post it, and follow the discussion, but don\'t get emotionally involved in what other people think; there is nothing in it for you, and there is no accounting for taste in any case (which doesn\'t mean that everyone else has bad taste, but that there is no \"good\" and \"bad\" taste, just different taste).
To be perfectly honest, I like the colours in the shot you posted, and think that the light was caught nicely, but there is nothing else there. It isn\'t straight, the people aren\'t doing anything interesting other than carrying the colour on their backs, and so on. This shot could be interesting in the context of a larger body of work. Ernst Haas has lots of work like this, some of which is brilliant, much of which is not, except as part of a larger whole, a vision, so to speak.
You have not even two pages of photos on Flickr, and most of it isn\'t that interesting, just snapshots. It looks to me like you are just starting to get interested in improving your work (whether you are 20 or 80), and therefore have found a forum or two to follow. But your heart is hanging way out and you are getting way too emotionally involved in what other people think, including myself.
FWIW, I *really* like this shot on your Flickr stream:
Backlit trees
I would say just keep going, keep trying, and keep remembering that there will always be people out there who don\'t like what you are doing. It doesn\'t matter at all. Don\'t forget to post here and ask for feedback, this is the fastest way to improve.
