I think you said it already: it is very difficult to replace the Sony A-mount with a Nikon mount, due to the design of the backside of the Sony mount. Still, you had the mount designed and sell them, so it is possible. As far as I know, the only disadvantages are 1) no auto-aperture, 2) no AF, 3) no EXIF and 4) no lock for the mount. 1), 2) and 3) are the same with all alt lenses on any camera, and 4) is fine with lenses that are not too heavy, since the mount is designed to be very snug.
