This might serve to illustrate an interesting phenomenon: the shorter a lens, the harder one works on locating targets of suitable proximity. With longer lenses we automatically tend to go after more distant targets, and, generally speaking, less effort is dedicated to distance-to-target reduction.
In the end, the basic tenet of mine remains as strong as ever: proximity to target trumps FL.
