I have bought a lot of 50mm, like many of us
Since years I though that the 50 Sigma was the best 50 I never owned. I have it in SA mount for my foveon gear.
On my D700, I bought the 50 f1.4 AFS-G, which is a plastic toy without any kind of soul, made in China. Since days, I was about to crash it on a wall because of that, because (for me) it was a useless piece of crap (even if it work and do the job).
So I was about to throw away the Nikon and taking a new SIGMA for my Fx but, In my local camera shop, I found a Zeiss Planar T*50 f1,4 ZF, brand new @ 400 bucks (they was unable to sell it; ppl in my area only like zooms).
Since I like video and (for me) video mean Zeiss glass only I decided to buy it and ... WOW !!!
I never owned a 50mm that good, mabe only the 50 f1.2 AIS but he was not as good as the zeiss, even if this zeiss is made in Japan: I do not freaking care. It is a Zeiss and the best 50 I have owned over ages.
