Here are four test shots with 800L + 1.4xTC MkIII (on 1DsMkII) just to satisfy my curiosity.
I have used that lens/TC combo very seldom, and that is not likely to change. The bare 800L is plenty long for my purposes.

#2,3 and 4.....monopod used
