I had a slow morning several weeks ago, deliveries done, and just took a ride past the Lansing, IL airport. I caught this bird warming up. I parked the truck and ran trying to get a vantage point with the 70-300 lens on the D300. I managed a few ground shots before she started to fly away. I had no time to check settings. I just shot. One guy on the ground crew watched me like I might be crazy. But given the wash when this bird lifts off, maybe I was.

I was playing around with sliders and the highlight slider gave me a slight \"halo\" around the chopper.

take the highlight/shadow radius down to ) and then work up from there. it will improve and reduce the halo effect.
