Gene, I couldn\'t see the actual design of the L-bracket from PMG. Somehow, they are not showing any good pictures of their L-bracket there. I am sure function-wise, the L-brackets in the market are roughly the same. I have used RRS and Kirk products and in general, I prefer the appearance of the RRS L-brackets. RRS charges slightly more and they charge for shipping, too. I will give RRS a call on Monday and if their answer is not to my liking, like the shipment will be delayed, or something to that effect, I will just cancel my order and ask for a refund.
Jim, for $30 you cannot go wrong with that plate. The screws that hold the strap loop act as stop pins to prevent accidental sliding in your tripod clamp. You can mount the screws in reverse if you don\'t like having a little bit of a protrusion under your plate. They supplied 3 allen wrenches with the plate, BTW.
