Kathy, my understanding that would apply more to the Mark III TCs but you are right, I also believe that it should apply to all TCs. I just make a habit of doing it that way for good measures. It was published by Canon fairly recently when the Mark III TCs became available. So, if you mount the TC on the lens first, the camera will recognize the combo as a single unit. That\'s roughly the explanation that Canon gave.
