At work I have to plan a few years ahead for many projects. There are several projects that I have been working on since the 1990s and will not be finished for 3-4 more years. Poor planning today will delay something down the line and may cost millions.

oh, i am fully aware of that idea. my new project is a result of the past 10 years of Boeings work and is still on going and evolving. i watched a few \"slip and falls\" on their part in that time. my part will most likely end with my retirement but i will be easily replaced as we all eventually are. and thats looking to be about 10 more yrs.
my poor planning ends up costing my time companies time customers time and lots of money too and unfortunately most of the time a little more immediate.
