p.1 #1 · Wow, I'm honored to be e-mailed by a scammer

Wow, I didn't know that our studio's so famous that we get e-mails from scammers now.

Check out the really bad punctuation of his e-mail:

Dear Sir/ Madam,

How are you today? I am the Dr Fred martins the managing director BLACK
TRIBE ORGANISATION UK. My first son(Birn) would be getting married in
october 2005 in london town of the united kingdom.

Due to the amount of prestidge guests who would attend the wedding, i am
seeking for a professional(expert) like you to come and grace this
wonderfull ocassion.

So i have decided to contact you via my personal email to know if you
would be able to work for me and make this wedding a great success, if so
furnish me with your charges and i would make adequate arrangements for your
flight to and from the united kingdom as well as your accormodation. I
assure you, you have no problem working for me.

Kindly get back to me on my mobile number as soon as possible
+447031843162 or via email: [email protected]. Thanks

Regards,
Dr Fred martins

The whole e-mail sounds so corny that I just think online scammers nowadays just don't try hard enough anymore.

Have them call you, but give them the number to your local police dept or FBI Field office.

Not sure if we have something like the FBI here in Canada. As for the local police department, this scam is pretty much international so not sure what they'll do. It's crazy that there's even scammers in the wedding photography industry.

I saw something a few weeks ago about how this works. They wire money to you in excess of the agreed amount. Then they discover their "mistake" and want you to send them the difference. But the money they send you isn't really there.

You give him a price of say $6000, he agrees, and sends you a check for $10,000.
He then asked for you to repay him the $4,000 overpayment that he sent by mistake.
You check your account and the $10,000 is showing, so you send him back a check for $4,000. You are then looking forward to an all expenses trip to London, when the bank informs you that he has now stopped the orginal cheque. You are $4000 plus bank charges for the stopped cheque out of pocket.

Beware

You guys should start getting them to right you a check and post pictures of them for kicks. As long as you don't send them any checks or try to cash the one you get it would be neat to see all the different checks. haha
