+1 to smugmug
haven't sold prints through it, but it gives a professional look to share your images. It's also pretty good for customizing. I did minor tweaks to mine to have it match my blog.

I've tried them all but prefer PBase. It's not sales oriented nor a social networking site -- I just like it's simple, clean interface and it's built-in equipment database. It's seems more professionally oriented with plenty of capability (if you don't mind getting into a little CSS) but without the cost.

I don't know if things have changed since last time I checked (couple of years ago), but the one problem I had with Picasa was that it stripped out the ICC profiles from my pictures on upload, and this causes viewing problems on Macs (at least with Safari) because Safari assumes untagged images to be in the ICC profile of your monitor, and not sRGB (which Windows and some other Mac browsers do). You don't notice if you upload your pictures in sRGB and use Windows because it "correctly" assumes the untagged image is sRGB, but if you upload an AdobeRGB picture or something you will run into problems no matter the browser/platform. Do you know if Picasa still strips the ICC profiles out of uploaded pictures?
I had the same experience with pbase, whose thumbnails got the ICC stripped as well, making the smaller versions of uploaded pictures look different than the "original" sized one. I also don't know if that ever got addressed.
I just checked one of the latest photos I uploaded to Picasa last evening with an EXIF viewer I keep on my toolbar for checking photos I'm curious about. The image was shot with a manual focus Nikon lens without a chip so the EXIF data doesn't specify a lens. Picasa has the shooting information, including focal range, aperture and shutter speed, as well as more information that an ordinary human would possibly want. That includes the XMP, EXIF, Photoshop, APP14, IPTC, File, Composite AND ICC_Profile. I'm a Mac user and have no problems with files. I always shoot sRGB to facilitate posting online since I do that far more often than I print. The only limitation I see with Picasa is that there is a limit of 1600 pixels for image width. You might want to check it out again...

Does anyone use pbase.com anymore? That was the first site I used to put up personal galleries and such. I use SmugMug now because of sales options primarily and I am quite satisfied. My only nitpick is that if you don't know javascript or css (or whatever they're called) the options for gallery templates are a bit boring for me. Its not enough to forgo use of the site, its only a nitpick and as proof I recently renewed my subscription.

I still use pbase and I like its simplicity. It is straightforward, no fancy slide show presentation software, just plain galleries. I don't think I have ever posted anything on pbase forums; I only post my images to my gallery and look at other people's galleries.
