Yep. Nicely done, beautiful dog. I was thinking of a dog theme as well, but you beat me to it. I was going to pair a black lab with a white bulldog. Now, I'm just going to have to do some more thinking. Steve
Thank's Steve. More thinking is always good. That can lead to some great shots which you may not have in mind right off the bat. However, I think the shot of your two dogs, one being black and the other white, would fit the theme much better than my simple color conversion to B@W. Plus you get the added bonus of having a nice shot of your pets.

IMHO it works equally well in B&W and in colour. It's a beautiful dog to start with and the (yearning? curious?) look really makes the shot.
Happy shooting,
Yakim.
Hi Yakim! Thank you for the vote of confidence with the BW shot. Much appreciated.
Superb technique. The lighting is amazing. How do you get a dog to pose like this? Very well done.
Cheers,
Rich
Hi Rich! Thank you. Yea, I wasn't sure how I was going to pull this off either. But I knew Maverick will sit and stay when it comes to getting a treat. I plopped him up on my studio table. A couple of diffused lights, one on either side, a white sheet on the table which he sat on to reflect some light back up under his chest and chin, and a black sheet as a backdrop. With my D60 w/50mm 1.8 on a tripod, a remote in one hand, and a treat in the other, it was a pretty easy session.
Hey, Mikey! Terrific shot, my friend! That is one beautiful doggie you have there. he's going to be something when he grows up. Of course, having a master photographer to document his puppyhood is a great thing. Congratulations on the great shot and the new dog!
