great shots, and i'm not sure if i mentioned it when you asked earlier, but the jupiter-3 should fit the bill nicely for a portrait lens. it's even smaller than the g45 and has the very unique and often sought after look (wouldn't call it smooth) typical of a fast sonnar design.

Adam, congrats on your new cam! It didn't take you any time at all to make it sing. If you are new to the NEX, don't miss out of the possibility to do close-ups with helicoid adapters. They exist for M-mount, and should soon be released also for Contax G and other RF lenses.
Philber - thanks for your comment and new word .This lathe is in an old carpenter shop and i do believe it is leaning just a bit.If you look at the window it is vertical.Good Eye.

Thanks for the suggestion. Looks like the Jupiter 3 should be cheaper, too, which is good, as I'm having difficulty now justifying the cost of the 58/1.2 when other options are so much cheaper (including the Canon 55/1.2). I didn't think I'd mind the weight, but the contrast with the G45 makes me smile every time I pick up the G45 and sling it around my neck. I'll keep my eyes peeled for a good buy on the Jupiter. The bokeh can get kinda funky looking though.
I do need to shoot a bit more with the Rokkor first. I just found out my dad has the MC Rokkor 50/1.4 he never uses, so if I were to part with the 58/1.2 that'd make it easier.
Was also considering the Canon LTM 50/1.8, too bad it is plagued by oil issues

Thanks, I love this thread. I read every single page, it made me so excited to get out there and shoot! After shooting yesterday I realized how useful helicoids must be. I'll definitely be looking into them.
I jumped up from an 8 year old 300D. There are so many things about the NEX 6 to love.
