For those watching the thread on the clearviewer idea on the NEX, I really like it. It improves my speed of focusing versus the LCD alone. It's a nice inexpensive easy solution.
Here's three images with the Zeiss Biogon C 35mm ZM. I'm loving the sharpness of this lens. The last is with the Contax G 45/2 at ISO800. Images clean up nicely.
Right now I'm looking for a decent 35-40 (50-60 eqivalent) lens. The new 35 1.2 from CV is still in the unknown, so I'm mostly aiming towards CV 35/1.4, 40/1.4 or similar fast, relatively cheap alternatives.

Lots of great images here now guys
So, I got my nex yesterday, 16/2.8 kit.

Other suggestions worth checking out?
i've never been a fan huge fan of what i've seen from either of the voigtlander 1.4s. the 40mm summicron or the cheaper but identical (except for filter size) minolta version are extremely good lenses, though only f/2. for that price point though, i would get the contax g 45/2 it's a bit longer and also not f/1.4, but it is a spectacular lens - much better than the voigtlanders at all apertures.
Ulrikft2, it really doesn't get much better than the ZM C-Biogon 35/2.8, IMO. It is small, sharp at all apertures, and has very nice bokeh while having that Zeiss "pop." It pretty much stays glued on my camera. However, I do occasionally use the Nokton 35/1.4 when the light goes down.

Definitely agree about the Biogon C. The only issue I have with the biogon is that it's minimum focus distance is rather long (0.7m) for a 35mm. That's where I take out my 45mm Contax G f/2. But the 45 also shines in other ares:
Agreed. That's why I've kept my Contax G 35 around, too. I would have gone with the 45, but it is just a little too long for my standard lens, and I've got three 50s already.

...and the other big problem with the C-Biogon 35 is that it is utterly UNAVAILABLE!
I guess it depends on what your priorities are. Small lenses which are faster dont' really become decent until stopped down until at least 2.8 OR they are huge in size. Or are there compact 35 1.4's you can recommend for the NEX that provide stunning image quality wide open? Dont know if it's true, but I have even read that the ZM 35 F2 is a bit soft until stopped down.

i feel like sony could design a f/1.7 or f/2 35mm that was very good (not sure about stunning) and the same size as the zm since it doesn't need to cover the full image circle. the olympus pen f 38/1.8 is very sharp from f/1.8 and it's a ~50 year old design. i hear that the 35 cron asph is stunning.
my issue is that the times i want a single compact lens solution are the same times that i need low light performance. f/2 is barely usable but f/2.8 just doesn't cut it. the times i want to shoot stopped down are the times when i have room for multiple lenses and larger lenses.

I certainly hope we see a very decent 35 1.4/ 1.7 AF lens from Sony for the NEX soon. Since they are about to release the very slow 30 Macro, I sort of have my doubt's. Perhaps when Sony releases the NEX 7, they will also release a very fast normal lens with it. I think there may be a decent chance we will see something specifically designed for the NEX from Voigtlander later this year, though it will be MF.

i doubt will see it any time soon too. i don't think sony sees the NEX system as a market for high end lenses. i would think they might bring out a 35/1.8 sometime over the next two years but it will be design more for the low end. i suspect the zeiss 24/1.7 will be released with the NEX-7, if they both really exist, which is quite preferible to me since i much prefer that focal length. i'll be interested to see what voigtlander offers, i'm beginning to think manual focus might be preferible to me, i can't remember the last time i actually used autofocus on any camera.
I wonder how much overall demand there is for some fast primes for the NEX ??
Granted I'd of course be very interested in them, and I'm sure many alt users would be interested as well, but I wonder how much of the overall market do we makeup ?
Zooms overall seem more popular than primes, and perhaps a wide zoom, like a 10-18mm and longer zoom, like a 55-200mm, both slower consumer grade, f4.5-5.6 would be better overall sellers for Sony ?
I'd love a 35 f1.4 personally, and probably would end up buying anything Zeiss branded for the NEX, but I'm sure I am, just like many here, maybe more of the exception than the rule.
NEX is a popular camera, no doubt about it, I see lots of people shooting with them, but they mostly seem to be snapshot shooters with just the 18-55.
Ive never encountered anyone using alt glass even, except on internet forums and even here we are a fairly small group
Again, Im not saying it wont happen, or that I don't want it to happen, but just have to really wonder if Sony perhaps knows their E mount market overall than we do here.
I think it seems totally obvious how great the camera would be with a couple of compact yet fast, AF'ing E mount primes but perhaps many actual NEX users globally don't really share that opinion ?
I personally would prefer to see a wide angle zoom or possibly a smaller telephoto zoom to complement the 18-55. If using primes, AF is not that big an issue with me but zooms on the other hand are really complemented with AF. I loved the Panny 7-14 when I had my M4/3 systems but the sensor was just too prone to blown highlights for me and the DR just wasn't there. Give me those zooms on a NEX and it may take front seat to my K5. The 18-200 is just too big and expensive for me and the copies of the 16 I had weren't very good...
Hey guys! I get that a lot of you like the 35/2.8 Contax G, but for me that is a bit slow, that is in effect something like a 50/3.5 in isolation (fullframe), and I don't think that I use my sigmalux 50 1.4 (my most used lens) below 2.8 more than 2 times per year.. :P So What i want is a sharp fast lens, I guess I have to wait for the CV 35 1.2 (the new one) and see if that one is up to spec and small enough to use on such a small camera.
