Thanks for the feedback Phillip! I haven't been happy with my workflow output but haven't been able to put my finger on what exactly was not working. I'm a masochist who uses Linux for photo processing and currently am using AfterShot Pro. I'll try some other apps for downsizing and see if I can make some improvements.
Do you know this thread: https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1101654/0?keyword=non-ps#10511658 ?

lovely shots phillip! what do you think of the 49mm filter thread version of the MD 50/1.4 compared to MC and larger MD?
When i tested them some time ago the MD E49 performed a bit better than the MD E55 and pretty similar to the MC.
I shot a test series on my nex-7 yesterday but the light was constantly changing and i had worked quite sloppy so the results aren't publishable, they seemed to indicate that the E49 was the best of them.
Here is a closeup testseries:
(Zentrum = Center, Halber Radius = Midframe, äußerster Rand = far Corner)
it was one of the first test series i ever shot, so light conditions an d iso are badly chosen.
in general i own too many 50s => i don't use any of them (except the nFD maybe) enough to get a really good impression of them.
I am pretty annoyed by the Minoltas hexagonal aperture, i think you tried to transplant a 58/1.4s 8-bladed aperture into your MC 50/1.4, were you successful? Thats one of the main reasons i often chose the Canon over my Minoltas.

the 58/1.4 aperture mechanics seem to match well enough to function but the diameter of the iris case was a little too big. i believe shaving it down 1/10th of a millimeter or so would make it fit, but i decided it wasn't worth the trouble since i'm not terribly fond of octagons either and the blades of my 58/1.4's aperture were a little corroded. my plan was to investigate the apertures on some of the old russian rangefinder lenses, but i've been to busy.
it's interesting on your test charts the larger MD has green loCA wide open (or whatever it's called in this case) and the other two have red. do you think that is a difference in where best focus falls with regard to SA on the lenses or just that you focused the different lenses a little differently?
Very nice set above, Phillip. I particularly like the shots 1 and 3. Was the DRO on for those shots, or did you bump shadows up?
