As for the Rokkor-X: I found it at an antique shop for a mere $20. That's less than the price for the fotodiox adapter! I can definitely see a difference using this lens in comparison to the kit lens.
I'm getting the hang of manual focus on the NEX-5N, and have been fooled a few times already. That's part of the learning, of course. As I learn more and read more in this thread (I'm only half way through) I see I need to try some of the other modes. I'm primarily using A mode, but will try others.
