Oh yea, who forgot that Zeise lenses are made for Canon bodies too?
Someone said it was part of the reason they shot with Sony, but they make most modern lenses for Nikon and Canon too.
Also, an adapter can always be used on a MF old lens.
Then why do you state the obvious?
The thing is though, that with a Canon body, if you want IS you can choose the lens that uses it.
However, a great number of people don't think they need IS on every lens or in every situation.
Those people can save a great deal of money on the lens they choose as result.
With a Sony a900 body, you can never add on the features a Canon may with, like HD video or life view.
For the record, I'm not against the a900 body, I think it's tremendous, and I've considered buying one more than once.
My only official dig against Sony was the price they charge for lenses feels inflated.

out of curiosity, when using a Sony a900, which 400mm prime lens do you recomend?
and which 500mm, 600mm, 800mm, lens do you all recomend?
I'm stupefied by your intelligent reasoning ability.

It is a legit question, I tried to look up what Sony lens was in this FL and could not find any.
I thought I'd ask you guy's since you know the Sony / Zeiss system better.
I love shooting with my Canon 400 f/5.6 lens ($1300) and the rented 600 f/4 lens and so I wondered which Sony or Zeiss lens to plan for if I ever went Sony body?

Sony have announced their 500/4 G. Perhaps not available yet, but Sigma has some supertele's in that range.
That is disappointing.. to say the least.
You mean even Zeiss doesn’t make something?
What about Minolta?
So, I'd be screwed if I had gone Sony 3 years ago ..unless I loves using sigma lenses.

I want a ultra wide angle rectilinear lens with AF - 14mm or wider.
One would think that you would have researched all this since you considered buying the A900 more than once. Also, answers to your questions are easily available through googling. Don't be lazy.

I thought I'd let you all prove my point for me though.
I guess no one wants to put a foot in your mouth though. lol
Sony's system is or isn't the best for anyone anytime everywhere!?
It does seem great for user's who want to photograph from 21mm-300mm.
Seems like a limited system, for going ultra wide or super telephoto.
