Is there an adapter available to use an alien bee beauty dish with a nikon sb-900?
Any of those brackets with a cold shoe (like the one from Kacey you see above) and a little drilling on the PCB beauty dish should work. You just have to line up the holes and use screws to attach the bracket to the beauty dish. The only problem I see here is that the deflector would have nothing to hold it up. The PCB beauty dish doesn't have the deflector attached to the beauty dish. Many, including myself, actually prefer beauty dishes this way. So you'd have to do some extra modding (not necessarily that hard to do) on the PCB BD to have the deflector fixed to the BD.
Maybe someone can correct me, but I think the PCB beauty dish works best with a "bare bulb" type of strobe or speedlight. If you want to use a speedlight on the PCB BD, you'd have to use a Sto-fen diffuser?
I just recently got the Kacey bracket to use with my own 22" dish that I got on (this one - $90+shipping for the dish, grid and sock) and I couldn't be more pleased with it. I'm using it with either an SB-900 or one of my SB-28s.
