Excellent series! #3 is my favorite but 4 is short behind that. Is the horizon in #3 leaning to the right or is that just the lay of the land?

Very nice set! Love the classic, moody Scottish skies you caught, and some wonderful views.
All but the last look tilted to my eyes.

Sublime shots Owen !
I have planned to go to scotland next summer, and especialy in the Isle of Skye. I'm a prime shooter and i've never done landscapes...

What Lens did you use here ? Can you share with us ?
As I don't have any WA, i'm debating between 21mm and 24mm.. What would be your choice ?

Thank you for your help !
Sam

Hi Sam
These images were all taken with the Canon 17-40mm f4 L.
Focal lengths in order of images 22,19,40,17mm. Looking at your lens collection I would be more inclined toward a zoom that covers ultra wide angle to standard. If you are looking for a single lens to use for landscapes then the zoom range would afford far greater advantage than whatever image quality improvement you would gain from a prime.

Great compositions could be achieved with either of the focal lengths you suggest, if I have to chose one it would be the 21mm but only because that is the nature of my shooting style.

Cheers, Owen

Thank you Owen !
I know that a zoom would be useful, but i always see myself selling them when i buy them (i've had a 24-70, I have an EFS 17-55 2.8 IS, but it will also go...)

I'm debating between the Zeiss Distagon 21 F2.8 and the Canon 24 L II. If I was doing a lot of landscapes I would chose the Zeiss in a heartbeat, but I do a lot more portrait & environnemental portraits... so difficult to chose ;-)

Anyway, thanks a lot for your answer
Sam

PS ; your pictures of Paris are great !
