Thanks, Charles!
That free trial of Lightroom looks like a good idea, I have to think on this though. Which would be better investment if I buy - Lightroom or Photoshop? I can`t afford both. At the moment I use GIMP for basic post-processing of jpeg - removing unwanted spots etc.
As far as a deal or bargain, the student price of Adobe Photoshop is quite the deal.
As far as which to buy, it really depends on what you will be doing. Lightroom excels as a jack of all trades tool - cataloging, organizing, basic raw processing with some in-depth tools, quick web pages, etc. For jobs with a large quantity of images to be processed, something like Lightroom is a godsend. So, you might think of it as a more versatile tool.
Photoshop, on the other hand, is an extremely complex and in-depth tool. It contains functionality that lightroom does not. It's the tool to use if you want to really work on an image with the highest degree of control. Ultimately, you will probably use both. As a student though, I would suggest taking advantage of the huge discount on Photoshop while you can.

I have bought the Sony Nex-3 with a few Contax G lenses now and they are a pleasure to use. small lenses and excellent images. I have decided that I will still get the FF one day to use with a couple primes of 21 -50mm range.
here are some taken with Contax G Biogon 28mm:
Edgars, congradulations on the new gears and wonderful photos.
Your first two shots are very impressive, Douglas!
Lovely butterfiles, sebboh! Your last shot is a bit surprising in that it seems to have a lot of DOF for a 45mm wide open, unless it is a substantial crop. But mighty fine image nonethless.

only the first two are wide open, the last is stopped down, not sure how far. f/4 maybe?
