I knew my comment would spark something...

Ellis, I never inferred you didn't understand basic photographic techniques.
I am well aware you were shooting way before digital came onto the scene.

I respect your approach but I'm not sure getting it in camera is "one hand tied behind your back" either.
If you can extract more emotion from a sitter in the studio/green screen than on location then great.

I actually think we need to be encouraging newer shooters to understand basic concepts because it can only help even with their software applications.

I think it's great the OP actually took the time to research and post those links. Too many these days would just "chimp" and say "why bother with basics...it's digital" or some nonsense.
"We'll fix it in PS later"
