oops, that reminds me, I need to work on my submission.
I haven't thought of anything yet.
But then again, I probably won't win because my compositions are so poor.
Great idea, and I love the composition. It reminds me of when my wife and I made 1,000 of those origami cranes for our wedding.
"The ancient practice of a man and woman folding 1,000 cranes for their wedding is called sembazuru. The tradition itself is called Tsuru wa sennen. The time and energy put into the thousand hand-folded origami cranes symbolized the patience and trust necessary to sustain a happy marriage. A couple who could weather the long, time intensive folding process together, supporting each other, talking with each other for weeks while taking on a challenging task was proving their ability to maintain a long term, content relationship."

May all this comes true and you will live well and prosper.
Thank you all for the kind and encouraging comments!
Bill,
The cranes are suspended by black thread from a handmade PVC scaffolding. There isn't actually a backcloth, just a dark room. Here is a picture of the rough setup.
very nice eager, you had me fooled with your technique. I thought that maybe its was a composition of 3 shots, with you throwing cranes in front of the camera..

Paper phoenix - high concept and nice execution!
You are the first one to mention the Phoenix connection and that was actually my initial concept.
I considered setting the shredded paper on fire for this shot, but in the end figured it would take away from the simple lines and colors. Not to mention the possibility of burning down my house!
