Otherwise I use Meike
and I do that on sony also
I have tried the more expensive kenko tubes but have bad experience with them so I did try Meike .. works better and have a better fit
not 100% but works well and is cheap
Yes, it arrived last Thursday. I have used this new lens only briefly, but hopefully should have more time next week.
I have very little experience with macro. Keeping the distance to subject when shooting hand-held has been my main challenge, and I started thinking about adding a monopod.
This Benro MSDPL46C, with a levelling pan head https://benrousa.com/msdpl46c-supadupa-monopod/ looks like it can be useful for doing occasional macro when hiking.
Maybe there are better options?
I would like to try the 90mm F3.5 lens with MC-20 (that I don't have but should add).
Since the aperture is typically F8 - 11, or even F16 for macro, then doubling the widest aperture from F3.5 to F7 with MC-20 should not be an issue. I am not much concerned about IQ loss with the TC, as I don't expect any significant degradation with the 90mm lens. Image stabilization should be affected by doubling the focal length, but maybe the monopod would alleviate this problem. The main reason for considering adding MC-20 to the macro lens is to double the magnification at 50cm. The MF scale on the lens indicates 0.25x magnification at 0.5m. With the TC, this should become 0.5x (or 1x FF equivalent). Shooting from the MFD (22.4 - 25 cm) isn't always possible; thus, it would be nice to have the opportunity to back up a bit.
I am open to, and would appreciate any, suggestions.
I like the way how the 90mm lens performs for things other than macro. Here are two trivial examples.

something to consider using MC on marco 90 f3.5 is that the smallest aperture becomes 5.0 with MC-14 and 7.1 with Mc-20 .. so you lose some light against f3.5
but it is an advantage to be able to use MC on lens
I myself very rarely use a tripod or monopod
find it difficult to try to set up without scaring the insects
usually bugs don't stay still for very long unless it's early in the morning so they haven't had time to warm up
It's been years since I've used my old GF1. It's still in my drawer though. I was going back through my old images and thought this one could use another take. I processed it in color originally. This time, I ran it through Adobe's AI enhancement and just went for a B&W image.
