Have to agree with with Kokusai, Jack! WOW! Jack, how would you compare the 58 and the 50 Lux stopped down? I actually have a 58 1.2 Rokkor sitting in my bag...the only problem is, it's been converted to Sony Alpha mount, so I have to send it to Jim to have it reconverted!!

Thanks Kokusai & Gregg.
Rokkor 58/1.2 is kind of a new lens to me. I got it influenced mostly by sebboh and few others on this thread and just recently started using it on Sony A7R. My first impressions are more than positive. This is a legendary lens, mostly shown wide open, but I do recall sebboh posted a comparison between few 50mm lenses including Rokkor and Leica Summilux 50 at various distances and apertures. Not sure what versions, but it was about a year ago and you should search for it as it contains interesting material.
Thanks Jack...I'll search for it! I used an older version a few years ago, but now I have a newer version, and can't wait to convert it and use it!

I like it very much.Sharp from f2.8 and good enough wo.Minimal smearing in the very corners.
28mm Rokkors in general do very well on the A7.Even the old 28/2.8 MC W.55mm,which wasn't that impressive with the NEXes is sharper across the frame, without significant falloff towards the edges.Lower pixel density does miracles.
Beautiful shots. I especially like the third one. I searched for this lens for about 2 years and was never able to find one. In the end I gave up, but your shots make me wish I didn't.
Nice shots Piere. I really liked the 28 f/2 when I had it (I had the MD with the 49mm filter). Here are some old shots with a 5D classic. It was wonderful on that camera, but the new Sony cameras are a lot more demanding. It is nice to see that it may hold up well.
Steve,I never dared to convert Minolta MD lenses into Canon EF mount.I just don't have enough skills and patience..With the advent of FF ILCes the problem has solved out by itself.
My copy of the late MC W.Rokkor 28/255mm is very good on the A7 though and I'm gonna keep it for good.

I have converted a couple of the easier ones to convert (58 f/1.2 and 400 f/5.6 APO), but the 28 f/2 with its floating element is beyond what I am capable of doing. I had Jim Buchanan convert mine. He does an excellent job. If he still does it I would recommend him highly to anyone who still want to do a conversion, but as you say with FF ILCs becoming available there is likely to be less need for this sort of service.
+1 ^^^
Jim did an excellent job converting both my md and mc-w versions of 28/2 to EF. I still have both and they are of such a relatively small size that I always thought they would be great to use on a mirrorless camera.
Waiting for the A8r with IBIS and quieter shutter.
