There are Takumars, Auto-Takumars, Super-Takumars and SMC-Takumars.
Takumars are the originals. Preset lenses with single-coating
Auto Takumars add the auto-aperture stop-down pin and the A/M switch
Super Takumars add better 'single coating', really very basic multi-coating (3-4 layers, as most late-60's 'single-coated' lenses have). They also introduce most of the classic Takumar designs.
SMC Takumars add SMC coating (true multi-coating, 7+ layers) and open-aperture metering lugs for the ES and F series Spotmatics.
There's also a few specialist designs like Tele-Takumars, NC-Takumars (for the Nocta IR camera)) and that Quartz-Takumar.
As an additional note, what is mentioned as "SMC Takumars" - the actual nomenclature of the lens is "super-multi-coated Takumar" if you are looking for the all-metal, scalloped focus ring lenses. Not until later lenses was that changed to "SMC". Not trying to be pedantic, however if you wanted to search *bay for lenses, it might be helpful to know.
My search on "that" auction site: takumar -67 -6x7 -k
Here's one of the other S-M-C Takumars, the 105/2.4 for the 6x7. The 6x7 system also had Super-Takumars and S-M-C Takumars before the introduction of the SMC Pentax line of lenses in the mid-70's.
That shot of the plane really gives a sense of speed, distance, and depth (altitude). It may be a false sense but it's a fairly strong feeling. Good job on that!
I went to a rural aerodrome for a civilian flyin, and took my K-X and taks
here are a few I liked
this one is the Super M C Takumar 50mm f1.4 set at F2 , I love the contrast and DOF smoothness of this lens
on the way home I remembered the road climbs a hill that lets you see the valley below so I stopped by a tomato farm and took some pics with the 28mm and the 135mm
first one is the 28mm at f8
second is 135mm at f8 also, but by now the clouds had rolled in and the crystal blue sky was gone
Here's some more of the Takumar 55mm 1.8. These were all taken today a few hours ago. They're all *wide open at f/1.8* with mostly just WB adjustment or maybe a touch of the contrast slider - kinda-thing.
Yup, I think I love Takumar glass. The SMC and Super Takumars are some of the nicest lenses in my collection so far. I really dig the bokeh they deliver. It almost looks painted in place. I have some others usually longer lenses, which produce similar DOF blur like that too but all the Takumars I've seen seem to deliver it consistently. I think it's a "dependable trait" in the Takumar line (?). And for like $10 to $50 a pop... such a deal!
^ I have the s-m-c Takumar version. I compared it a while ago with my Nikkor -PC 105/2.5. I was expecting the Nikkor to blow the Tak away, but not so. Wide open, the Nikkor won, but after that, the Tak started taking over and displayed a far nicer bokeh. The Taks tend to be more conservative in colour saturation (your shot shows this as well), which can easily be tweaked in post if desired.
OK Bluet - you're good enough now. Time to lose the training wheels That is a very good exposure and a quality lens too. I love the sharpness of the foot and the blur of the spokes. My laptop screen is a bit dull so can't comment on the toning of 2 and 3 but nice and sharp. thanks for sharing.
